High-Throughput Multi standard Transform Core Supporting MPEG /H.264/VC-1 Using Common Sharing Distributed Arithmetic

Category : VLSI

Sub Category : VLSI with MATLAB

Project Code : ITVL40

Project Abstract

This paper proposes a low-cost high-throughput multi standard transform (MST) core, which can support MPEG- 1/2/4 (8 × 8), H.264 (8 × 8, 4 × 4), and VC-1 (8 × 8, 8 × 4, 4×8, 4×4) transforms. Common sharing distributed arithmetic (CSDA) combines factor sharing and distributed arithmetic sharing techniques, efficiently reducing the number of adders for high hardware-sharing capability. This achieves a reduction in adders in the proposed MST, compared with the direct implementation method. With eight parallel computation paths, the proposed MST core has an eightfold operation frequency throughput rate. The CSDA-MST core thus achieves a high-throughput rate supporting multi standard transformations at low cost.

EXISTING SYSTEM

PROPOSED SYSTEM

EXISTING CONCEPT:

·         Existing design is constructed by using distributed arithmetic (DA), factor sharing (FS), and matrix decomposition methods to reduce hardware cost.

·         The inner product can be implemented using ROMs and accumulators instead of multipliers to increase the area cost

PROPOSED CONCEPT:

·         In this paper we are going to design the multi-standard transform core using common sharing distributed arithmetic.

·         This is useful to perform the operation of image or video  compression.

EXISTING TECHNIQUE:

·         ROM based techniques

PROPOSED TECHNIQUE:

         Common  Sharing  Distributed Arithmetic

TECHNIQUE DEFINITION:

·         The ROM based technique is easy to design but hardware requirement is more. So the complexity is too more.

TECHNIQUE DEFINITION:

·         The proposed technique is the combination of factor sharing and distributed arithmetic. This technique will be help us to reduce the complexity of the circuit.

DRAWBACKS:

·         High computational time

·         Bulk in size

ADVANTAGES:

         Less complexity

         Reduced size
